Strategies of the Comprehensive Plan

16th November 14:00 City planning office, Fleminggatan 4, Stockholm
We reached one more interesting and topical destination - City planning office.

There we had a lecture about strategies of the Stockholm comprehensive plan. Lecture was held by Christina Leifman, the head of Strategic planning. She told us more about Stockholm comprehensive plan (Översiktspan för Stockholm) and the vision of the city in 2030.

There are four main strategies for sustainable growth ”to meet the most pressing challenges and achieve the vision of a world class Stockholm.”

1. Strengthen central Stockholm (expanding the inner city beyond its historic borders)

2. Focus on strategic nodes (good access to a range of services, culture and jobs)

3. Connect city areas (remove barriers, increase social cohesion)

4. Create a vibrant urban environment (secure and dynamic urban environment depends upon the successive development of built areas)

Main idea is to create dense, versatile and connected city, expanding the inner city beyond its historical boundaries, improve green spaces and make people walk, cycle and use public transport (that means that they are also thinking a lot about ecological aspects).

More information about strategies of comprehensive plan and future Stockholm you can find in webpage: http://international.stockholm.se/Future-Stockholm/

Ch. Leifman also mentioned some regions in or near Stockholm and explained how they are being changed and how they should look later. These are: Årstafältet, Ulvsunda and Liljeholmen Årstadal.

In general I could say that I find Stockholm very nice city. Probably the landscape, a lot of water and beautiful ambitions create good sense of the city. Moreover all these plans seem to be very useful, it is expected to create a good environment for everyone. Besides I think that goals are presented in simple and pleasant way, so people can easily read, understand and be involved in it.

Vi ses, Stockholm!
